They say every musician thinks they are a comedian, and every comedian really just wants to be a musicians, so when Eddie Murphy hit the studio to record his debut musical album, ‘How Could It Be,’ no one should have been surprised. Still, thanks to a little help from Rick James, Murphy ended up with a hit song, ‘Party All the Time,’ creating one of the 80’s greatest party anthems.

‘Party All the Time’ was released in 1985, at the peak of Eddie Murphy’s fame. According to Murphy the song came from a $100,000 bet he made with follow comedian Richard Pryor about whether Murphy could actually sing or not. However, Murphy always had musical aspirations, and his first attempt ended up going all the way to number two on the Billboard Hot 100.

As for the song, it tell the story of Murphy’s girl, who just wants to party all the time. This is something many others could relate too, especially those actively partying. With a song like this, it’s hard not keep the party going. Here’s to one of the great moments in party history!
