As many Texans know, HEB has taken grocery stores to a new level, with just about anything one needs for their home in one store. Now, the Texas-based chain wants to do the same for gas stations, as they recently launched their first Fresh Bites convenience store in Central Texas. The new store is part of the company’s plan to rebrand their 12 current gas stations throughout Texas.
On Wednesday, HEB officially opened their first Fresh Bites convenience store in Leander, north of Austin. The gas pumps remain, but the new store features a True Texas Tacos counter, a jerky station, a nacho bar, and plenty of grab and go snacks. “I think what we wanted our customers to feel when they stepped in into these H-E-B Fresh Bites convenience stores was that they felt like they were going into an H-E-B store," said H-E-B Public Affairs Manager Johnny Mojica.
According to My San Antonio, the new Fresh Bites convenience stores will be stocked with food products normally found at HEB. It is unknown when the other HEB gas stations will be rebranded to Fresh Bites stores. For now, the rest of Texas will just have to venture to Leander to check out the new store.
