There are some pieces of technology that many people thought would have been invented by now. Thanks to movies and television plenty thought the world would be full of flying cars, jetpacks and robot butlers by 2022.
While none of those are here quite yet, one technological advancement people thought would be invented is right around the corner; hologram phone calls.

Scientist in South Korea recently created new light sensors inside a camera that they believe could lead to a hologram feature for smartphones.
According to CW33, the sensor can detect the polarization of light to create 3D images without needing a bulky filter. While holograms are currently available using large, specialized camera equipped with a polarizing filter, this technological advancement could make them easier to create in a smaller form.

“Research on the downsizing and integration of individual elements is required to ultimately miniaturize holographic systems. The results of our research will lay the foundation for the future development of miniaturized holographic camera sensor modules,” said study author Dr. Do Hwang.
Soon people will be sending hologram video messages to each other. Hopefully mankind can keep things appropriate.
