CES 2021 kicks off this week, but some of the featured products that will be displayed are already starting to be revealed. One of the first products to go viral from the event is LG's new see-thru television set. The 55-inch OLED TV set achieves 40 percent transparency, and has many fans wondering when they will be able to purchase one of their own.
As seen in the video, LG placed the television set at the foot of the bed, where it appears as see-thru, even when on and displaying an image on the screen. "Transparent OLED is a technology that maximizes the advantages of OLED and can be used in various places in our daily lives, from stores, shopping malls, and architectural interiors to autonomous vehicles, subway trains, and aircraft," said LG Display's senior vice president and head of commercial business, Jong-sun Park.
While many are hoping this technology soon becomes a reality, as of now the television is just part of LG Display's experimental prototypes. LG has not revealed any plans to turn this invention into a real product at this time. Hopefully its makes it to market before it's forgotten.
