Over the weekend, a new mural featuring Dallas Maverick’s star Luka Doncic holding up a sign that read “please send help” popped up in Deep Ellum and quickly went viral. However, for fans hoping to get an in-person look at the artwork, they are too late, as it has already been covered up by the artist. Luckily, the team behind the mural promises a new one is on the way that has the approval of Doncic.

When Preston Pannek and his wife, Adrienne Creasey-Pannek, first shared their new Luka Doncic mural on the side of St. Pete’s Dancing Marlin, they hoped it would honor the young Mavericks’ star, while also poking fun at the teams’ current situation. However, after owner Mark Cuban called the mural “disrespectful,” and the artists were contacted by representatives of Doncic’s asking to take it down, they decided starting over was the best course of action. “I was having a little fun, but some people took it the wrong way,” said Preston Pannek.

According to Dallas Morning News, the artists are now working on a new design that has the approval of Doncic, though he is still keeping the idea a secret. Hopefully this one can stay up without upsetting anyone.
