One of the major factors in the trade of superstar Luka Doncic from the Mavs to the Lakers was concerns from the Mavs brass that Luka would not be re-signing with the team when his contract expires at the end of the 2027 season.

However, what Luka was doing prior to the trade's execution clearly indicates his long-term plan was always to stay in Dallas.

According to former Maverick Chandler Parsons, Luka had just closed on a $15 million home in DFW and was completely blindsided by the trade.  Parsons even mentioned that Luka cried upon hearing the news.

Per the NY Post, Parsons even texted former Mavs owner and current minority owner Mark Cuban that he was "confused" by the deal.  Cuban replied, "That makes two of us."

Despite reports that the Mavs were concerned with Luka's conditioning and off-the-court habits, Parsons was disgusted with the trade.

"I find it extremely disrespectful," he said. "I find it horrific — bad business."
