One of the fallouts from the Mavs’ trade of Luka Doncic is the fear that the franchise will be moved to a new city.

However, new plans from Mavs CEO Rick Welts say the team will remain in Dallas for years to come.

Per WFAA, Welts said the Mavs remain “committed to staying in the City of Dallas,” and even hope to have a site selected for a potential new arena.

Welts revealed these plans during the closed-door meeting between general manager Nico Harrison and local media, saying that the franchise is moving “full speed ahead” on new arena, which they hope will be built and ready to play in by the 2031-32 season.

The lease for the American Airlines Center, which the Mavs began playing in in 2001, expires in 2031.
