It seems that schools all across the state of Texas are closing due to declining enrollment and budgeting challenged, including Bedichek Middle School in Austin.

Now the name might be familiar, but you would definitely recognize the school as it was used in the 1993 movie Dazed and Confused, where it was transformed into Robert E. Lee High School.

The school’s orchestra director Samantha Stewart, a position she’s held for 13 years, pleaded for one of the film’s stars, Matthew McConaugey, to do anything in his power to save the school.

Dazed and Confused was McConaughey’s feature film debut, where he portrayed the character David Wooderson.
