When he was just five years old, Dallas native David White attended his first State Fair of Texas. He told CBS News that he doesn’t remember much from that visit, but he says his parents “told me I was there.”
Now 85 years old, White recently celebrated going to his 80th State Fair of Texas, eight decades worth of Big Tex, corn dogs, and White never has gotten tired of it.
"It's the best thing going," he said. "Everybody should go to the fair."
White even took a turn working at the Midway in his youth, but now he’s content sitting back with a corn dog, and watching his grandkids’ faces light up when they see Big Tex, much like his did all those years ago.
"I think it's good that some of those kids may be coming back every year," White said. "Some of them may come back for 80 years."
