Consider yourself lucky if you didn't fly into DFW Airport on Sunday.  It was an absolute madhouse, which is to be expected the weekend after Thanksgiving.

For decades though, DFW and Love Field have been the only options for DFW residents to fly commercially, but a new vote by the McKinney City Council could very well change all of that.

The city council just approved a zoning change for the third commercial airport in North Texas, located on a plot of land right next to McKinney National Airport.

According to FOX 4, the plans call for a 45,000-square-foot passenger terminal with five gates, parking areas, a taxiway, and other runway equipment.

McKinney mayor George Fuller said the city is already working with two airlines on commitments, also adding that concerns over noise are "unfounded" as the commercial airlines will not be taking off over the nearby homes.
