The amount of time people spend watching television shows or movies may be staggering to some, but with so many options to choose from on a variety of different streaming services, it’s more difficult than ever before to turn away. Every week it seems someone is suggesting a new “greatest show ever.” Now, Netflix has unveiled their top 10 list of most watched movies and television shows, and measured it by hours-watched during its first month of release.
In the past, Netflix has been secretive about their viewing statistics, only revealing what shows were being watched the most. However, their latest release is giving viewers the “most comprehensive look so far” at the service’s most popular shows and movies. According to NME, ‘Bridgerton’ was the top television series, with 625 million hours watched. Following Bridgerton was; ‘Money Heist’ part four, ‘Stranger Things’ season three, ‘The Witcher’ season one, and ‘13 Reasons Why’ season two.
Netflix also released their top movies, with ‘Bird Box’ topping the list at 282 million hours. “We’re trying to be more transparent with talent, with the market,” said Netflix’s co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos. Their list proves no one can complain that “there’s nothing to watch” anymore. Check out the complete lists below.
