There are many people in DFW who are willing to do whatever they can to help their fellow Texan. That neighborly quality was shown recently as a DFW man helped out a North Texas author by giving his debut novel a shout out on social media. Luckily for the author from Arlington, the post went viral sending his book to number one on the Amazon best sellers list.

Shawn Warner was recently at a Kroger in Fort Worth promoting his debut novel, ‘Leigh Howard and the Ghosts of Simmons-Pierce Manor.’ However, as Jerrad Swearenjin was walking through the store, he noticed the author seemed a bit “defeated” and decided to help him out. Swearenjin bought two copies of the book, but also shared a video on his TikTok that quickly went viral.

"It was just supposed to be, hey, here’s a fellow neighbor who’s just struggling and I wanted to help him out," said Swearenjin. However, it became much more as days later the video received over 15 million views and the book sold enough copies to become Amazon’s best seller, according to WFAA. Hopefully Swearenjin gets a nice shout out in Warner’s next book.
