People often complain that their high school didn’t teach them the things they would need to know to navigate the real world. Learning about paying taxes, saving money and finding a job is often ignored for topics like math, science and history. However, a new high school opening in DFW is hoping to change that by getting more students interested in high-demand aviation careers.

Rising Aviation High School recently held their grand opening at Addison Airport. The school is North Texas’ first ever aviation high school, where they hope to give students interested in aviation hands on experience. “Our students will graduate with a high school diploma but also an industry-based certification, remote pilot and private pilot certificate," said principal and lead flight instructor, Brent Fitzgerald. The school’s plan is to help fill the void for pilots and other aviation careers, according to Fox 4 News.

"We are training students to build rocket ships to the moon or be ramp agents or air traffic controllers. A lot of the aviation careers are very lucrative,” said board member Jason Huntsberry. The school also hopes to open a second location at Dallas Executive in the Red Bird area of southern Dallas in the near future. Soon DFW will be providing the world with pilots.
