The heat this summer has been absolutely miserable, but is it worth it knowing that it’s record breaking?
No. We’d rather it be cool out. But Sunday was the 12th triple digit day of the month, which means DFW set a new record for the most 100-degree days ever recorded in the month of September.
And even more, we have a lot more triple digit days to come as well. The heat is also being accompanied by an “extended lack of no measurable rainfall,” according to Sarah Barnes, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service,
She told the Denton-Record Chronicle, “It’s definitely one of the hottest and driest periods.”
As such, officials are warning residents to use extreme caution with anything that could spark a potential wildfire. They also advise to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and to avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the afternoon.
