In 2024, Palmer’s Chicken, located at Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road, was featured on the Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
Now just two years later, the restaurant has closed its doors, which actually came to quite the relief of owner Palmer Fortune.
Fortune told the Dallas Morning News that his East Dallas restaurant was not profitable, but he believes selling hot chicken in other ways could be.
With the closing of their brick-and-mortar restaurant, Palmer’s Chicken will focus their efforts toward operating a ghost kitchen in Garland, offering the same food for order pickups and delivery through DoorDash and Uber.
Palmer’s will also continue its corporate and event-based catering, which Fortune said comprised “a significant part of the business.”
Fortune says their last day of operation will depend on the weather this weekend. Ideally, he hopes to sell his last hot chicken sandwiches and street tacos on Jan. 25.
Palmer’s Hot Chicken is located at 6465 E. Mockingbird Lane, Dallas.
