As amazing as the food is in Texas, you've never visited a Michelin Star-rated restaurant in the Lone Star State.  That's because the Michelin Guide has never judged a restaurant in Texas.

Until now.

For the first time ever, restaurants in Texas will be eligible to receive Michelin Stars, considered the most prestigious honor a restaurant can receive.

According to the Dallas Morning News, five cities in Texas will now be judged by the Michelin Guide: Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston.

This news comes out of a partnership with the Michelin Guide and the tourism agency Travel Texas, who reportedly paid to cover "some of the costs incurred in establishing the Guide in a new location."

Michelin utilizes a "fleet" of anonymous inspectors who judge restaurants based on a variety of factors, including:

Quality of products used Mastery of flavor and cooking techniques The personality of the chef in the food Value Consistency

The first batch of Michelin Star Texas restaurants will be announced before the end of 2024.
