All summer there have been reports of lifeguard shortages forcing public pools to either cut hours or shut down altogether. This has affected DFW as well where multiple pools have been forced to make adjustments.
One of those was the Heights Family Aquatic Center in Richardson, which was forced to remain closed with the proper number of lifeguards on staff. However, the public pool is now open for the first time this summer thanks to a surge in lifeguard applications.
With temperatures reaching record highs this summer in Texas, public pools have been a must for many families. Luckily, some pools are starting to open back up as the lifeguard shortage begins to ease. According to CBS DFW, the Heights Family Aquatic Center opened for the first time this summer over the weekend.

“I'm really overjoyed that they got it together even, I'm not disappointed that it's over the weekend I'm thrilled, I'm just grateful that we have what we need for some kind of enjoyment," said local parent Tiffany Moscrey. With more lifeguards now on staff the pool will remain open 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday until August 14.
