More often than not school’s take their dress code a little too seriously. Stories are constantly being shared of students being removed from class for “distracting” clothing, when the student is actually wearing normal, everyday attire. However, one school in New York recently implemented a policy everyone can get behind. The school recently claimed they will no longer allow students to wear shirts with bands they don’t know on them.
Yeshiva Har Torah, an elementary school in Queens, New York went viral recently after sharing their new dress code policy. “School Dress Code Update: Students cannot wear clothing with the name of any musician or band unless the student can name at least three of their songs. The 8th grader who said ‘I thought Nirvana was a clothing brand,’ last week has been suspended indefinitely,” the school said in their now viral tweet. Of course, the school was just joking, but it was a policy many parents said they could get behind.

Of course, the school did offer some clothing alternatives as well, according to Metal Sucks. “All are welcome to bring a flannel shirt, Dr. Martens, a yellow Discman with minimum 30 seconds of skip protection, and an all-around dour demeanor,” the school tweeted. Finally, failing the “name three songs” test will have consequences.
