Ridesharing apps have made transportation a lot easier in recent years, but if there is one complaint many people have, it’s that they aren’t interested in having conversations with the driver while getting a ride. For those who prefer as little human interaction as possible, there’s a new rideshare service coming to DFW they’ll definitely want to try. It was recently announced that Cruise, a self-driving rideshare company, will be expanding to DFW this year.
Back in 2022, Cruise launched their first fleet of driverless rideshare vehicles in a number of cities, including Austin. Now, they have announced they will expand to even more cities, including Dallas and Houston. "Houston and Dallas are committed to reducing traffic deaths as part of their Vision Zero commitments, and we are excited to operate in and partner with these new communities in this shared mission,” said CEO Kyle Vogt.
According to Dallas Culture Map, all their vehicles are electric and equipped with a 360-view, with the ability to react to whatever they encounter on the road. Each car goes through simulations of millions of scenarios and drive virtual and real miles before hitting the roads. Soon, driverless rideshares may be the norm in DFW.
