People who love the State Fair of Texas understand that it is not the place to count your calories. Everything is deep fried or covered in sugar, sometimes both.
However, just like any restaurant, all of the concession booths at the fair are subject to inspections from the city of Dallas code compliance office.
Senior sanitarium Eduardo Carrizales told NBC DFW, "We just want to make sure everything is good. We want to make sure that there are no food-borne illnesses."
In addition to the pre-fair inspection, fair vendors are visited four more times for an inspection throughout the run of the fair, more often than brick-and-mortar restaurants.
Fair vendors are inspected more frequently due to the sheer amount of food they serve in such a short time. And to this day the code compliance office says that no fair vendor has "failed or experienced any serious issues."
