With so many reboots being made in the last few years, it seems no filmmakers are turning down the opportunity to revisit their most beloved characters. However, one director still refuses to bring back any of his previous films. According to recent reports, Steven Spielberg has turned down multiple offers to make a ‘Jaws’ reboot, telling Universal it’s “a firm no.”

Steven Spielberg has made his feelings on reboots and sequels well known, previously claiming he would never consider remaking any of his films. However, that didn’t stop Universal from attempting to persuade the director into making a new version of his 1975 film, ‘Jaws.’ According to NME, Spielberg’s production company Amblin had been in talks with the studio, but made it clear the director was not interest in being a part of a ‘Jaws’ reboot.

Many fans were disappointed about the decision, but others were happy the franchise would remain the same. While Jaws won’t be getting a reboot, some other films may one day see an expansion, as the director once said, “There are Amblin titles in the library that could inspire new stories that were made popular by the films.” Maybe one day someone can convince him to bring back his iconic shark.
