People are always trying to convince themselves that their possessions are more valuable than they actually are. Items such as Beanie Babies, Pokémon and sports trading cards and plenty of other pieces of pop culture memorabilia have been purchased by many as investments. Sadly for most, these purchases never quite work out. However, some LEGO owners may be in luck, as a recent study claimed some LEGO sets are more valuable than gold.

A recent study, conducted by Moscow’s Higher School of Economics, looked at unconventional assets as investments, and found a surprising value for certain LEGO sets. According to The New York Post, the school looked at the price of 2,322 different LEGO sets and found some of the most sought-after kits had an increase in of 11% on a yearly basis. That return outpaces gold, blue-chip stocks, and a number of other more traditional investments.

Still, if there is someone who tortured themselves as a child and refused to play with their LEGO set; they may soon be very rich.
