Study says Texas could be the most populated state by 2100

It already feels like a lot of people have moved to Texas the last couple of years, and that trend doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon.

In fact, according to a study from moving experts moveBuddha, Texas is on track to become the most populated state in the country by 2100.


If current trends hold, Texas could have as many as 96 million people living in the state, which would amount to a 213.8% population increase!  According to CultureMap Dallas, Texas only crossed 30 million residents in July 2022.

The study says that southern states will see the most growth at the turn of the century, with Florida coming in right behind Texas with an estimated growth of nearly 68.5 million people.

The report states, "We don't know how climate change will affect migration patterns, and we don't know the effects of new technologies.  Many Americans are leaving large cities and cold-weather states for less congested places and warmer climates, especially for the winter months."

According to the study, the ten biggest states, and their populations will include:

1 – Texas (95,699,438)
2 – Florida (68,495,750)
3 – California (50,394,266)
4 – Georgia (23,904,874)
5 – North Carolina (23,049,547)
6 – New York (20,214,987)
7 – Washington (19,301,336)
8 – Arizona (18,516,915)
9 – Colorado (14,640,993)
10 – Virginia (14,400,363)
