The annual Perseid meteor shower will be shooting across North Texas tonight.
Look to the night skies, and residents will be greeted with one of the brightest and most easily viewed showers of the year, producing "bright blue meteors — and lots of them," according to University of Warwick astronomer Don Pollacco.
According to the American Meteor Society, more than 50 mete ors per hour are expected.
The Perseids are expected to hit their peak across North Texas tonight and tomorrow but are expected to last until late August.
According to WFAA, the next major meteor shower will be the Orionids, peaking in mid-October.
