Taylor Sheridan is heading back to North Texas.
He originally envisioned a spinoff for his series Tulsa King to be called NOLA King, and set in, obviously, New Orleans.
However, plans shifted, and his new series has been rebranded as Frisco King, and will now take place in the North Texas city.
According to the Dallas Morning News, the show will star Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a hitman introduced in season three of Tulsa King.
Per Variety, the logline for NOLA King originally read, “Inspired by what Dwight created in Tulsa and impressed with the possibilities of second chances, Washington returns to New Orleans, the home he abandoned forty-years ago, to rekindle his relationship with his family, friends, and to take control of the city he left behind.
“In so doing, he incurs the wrath of his former employers in New York, and makes himself vulnerable to old NOLA foes, both criminal and cop.”
It is unknown why the series has shifted from New Orleans to Frisco.
Production on Frisco King will begin in late March in Fort Worth. Sheridan will write all eight episodes.
