Summer is right around the corner, which means people throughout DFW will soon be heading back to the lake to enjoy their free time. For many, fishing is their go to lake activity, however this year they may want to give “catch and release” a try. The Texas Department of State Health Services recently put out a warning not to eat fish from a number of DFW lakes due to the presence of environmental contaminants.

For those hoping to catch their next meal fishing in North Texas, there a number of lakes they may want to avoid. According to CW33, TDSHS recently issued fish consumption advisories for several lakes and rivers throughout the metroplex. The lakes on their list include Lake Como, Echo Lake, Mountain Creek Lake, Lake Worth and Trinity River upstream to Eagle Mountain Lake, Fosdic Lake and Clear Fork of Trinity River.

The list of chemical concerns and advisories for each lake or river can be found here. While some lakes only have warnings for specific fish, others claim no fish from that water should be eaten. With this, fishing for dinner in DFW just got a bit more difficult.
