Two men have been arrested for their involvement in an illegal white-tailed deer smuggling operation.
According to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, the two suspects were caught trying to smuggle seven deer from a licensed deer breeding facility in East Texas through Montgomery County to Brazoria and Duval Counties.
Reportedly, their plan was to illegally release the deer onto private property.
According to KCEN-TV, one of the suspects, a deer breeder, faced 41 charges including 11 penal code violations, 29 deer breeder violations and one traffic code violation. The man reportedly pled guilty to all 29 deer breeder violations and three penal code violations.
His partner was reportedly charged with two penal code violations and 28 deer breeder violations, of which TPWD says he was convicted.
