The Powerball had another drawing Monday night, and once again no player matched the winning numbers. However, that wasn’t for a lack of trying, especially here in Texas. While no one came away with the massive prize, Texans spent nearly $17 million on Monday trying to buy the correct lottery ticket.
Many Texans were hoping to hear their lottery ticket numbers called Monday night, but like the rest of the country, sadly there were no matches. Now, the jackpot is up to $1.2 billion, one of the largest in Powerball history, but it could go up even more if Texans go to the store as much as they did on Monday. According to WFAA, Texans spent $16,695,498 on lottery tickets Monday.

The statistics were even broken down by hour, showing Texans spent the most at 6 P.M. During that hour, Texans spent nearly $2.5 million. Hopefully someone from Texas ends up matching the winning numbers, so all that effort doesn’t go to waste.
