The days are long. The heat is abrasive. Makes you just want to drive home as fast as possible to the welcome embrace of your air conditioner.
Drivers across the state need to be aware though, that next weekend the Texas Department of Transportation is beginning its “Operation Slowdown” campaign.
From July 18 to August 2, police departments will increase their presence on the roads to target “speeding and aggressive driving,” according to Secret Dallas.
To ensure you avoid a ticket, and to make sure our roads are kept safe, TxDot has released these safety tips for motorists to keep in mind when they are behind the wheel:
-Match your speed to traffic, weather, and road conditions
-Increase following distance when traffic is heavy or roads are slick
-Watch for changing speed limits, especially in work zones and school zones
-Remember that fines double for speeding in active work zones and school zones
-Always buckle up—drivers and passengers—day and night. It's your best protection in a crash
