Normally reserved for international flights, American Airlines is planning to fly the biggest plane in its fleet, the Boeing 777-300ER, from New York to DFW this September.

According to WFAA, The reason for its use on this route is currently unclear.


The plane can seat up to 304 people and has a wingspan of more than 212 feet and a length of more than 242 feet.

Typically, American Airlines uses a Boeing 737-800 (160 seat capacity) or an Airbus A321 (150 to 190 seats) for its domestic flights.

American Airlines has 20 Boeing 777-300ERs in its fleet.

Tickets for the round-trip flight in September are currently priced at around $481.
