Look, the chances of winning the Powerball are practically impossible.  At the least, it's very, very, very, very improbable.

But there’s a chance you could still end 2025 with a little bit of extra cash in your pocket.

Per WFAA, there is about $10.5 million in unclaimed property in the state of Texas, including $2 billion in the Houston area alone.

Some of these unclaimed properties include things like forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, utility deposits, insurance proceeds, mineral royalites, etc.

You can search for unclaimed property by visiting ClaimItTexas.gov.

If the state is holding anything under the name, the website will provide simple instructions to submit a claim.

Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock says, “With many Texans feeling the pinch of holiday spending, this is an opportunity to recover money that may have been forgotten years ago.”
