A mother from Texas is doing whatever she can to make sure a man from California she only met once has the perfect wedding. Samantha Whiting started a GoFundMe page for Kevin Cozzi after he saved her daughter from drowning. Whiting’s page has already gained over $20,000 with more than 700 people contributing.
During a recent trip to California Samantha Whiting and her 10-year-old daughter Hayley took a trip to the beach. However, while swimming a riptide carried Hayley far out into the ocean, and her mother’s attempt to help ended up putting them both in danger. “I swam as hard as I could to get [her] but underestimated the current, I had her on my back but it was slowly taking both of us down,” Whiting.
She called out for help, and luckily Cozzi swam out to rescue them without hesitation. Now, as a way to thank her “hero” Whiting has set up a GoFundMe page hoping to help raise money for Cozzi’s upcoming wedding and honeymoon. “If it wasn’t for him risking his life in such a selfless act I would have lost not only my own life, but my baby girl,” said Whiting. After his selfless act, Cozzi definitely deserves a great wedding.
