Over the years, many musicians have been taken to court for claims they stole music from another artist. Now, Kanye West is being accused of using someone else’s work without their permission, although this time the sample didn’t come from another song, it came from a Texas church. Bishop David Paul Moten is suing Kanye West claiming the artist used his sermon on the song ‘Come to Life.’

Much hype surrounded the release of Kanye West’s recent album, ‘Donda,’ but now months after the album release it is making headlines once again due to a lawsuit from a Texas pastor. Bishop David Paul Moten of Victoria, Texas is now claiming one of his sermons was used on the album. The Bishop says his sermon was used for 70 seconds on the song, according to NME. UMG Recordings, Def Jam Recordings and G.O.O.D Music are also named on the lawsuit.

This is not the first time West has been accused of using a sample in his music without permission. Just weeks ago the rights holder of the King Crimson sample used in the Kanye West song ‘Power’ said they plan on suing Universal Music Group over its use. With this lawsuit it appears the target of West’s anger may go from Pete Davidson to Bishop David Paul Moten.
