There were many questions marks coming into the 2023 MLB season with a number of rule changes expected to make drastic changes to the game of baseball. Now, not even one month into the season and the changes are being viewed as a huge success, with game times being shortened significantly. However, the one downside to shorter games has been less time for teams to sell beer. That’s why the Texas Rangers have decided to extend beer sales to give fans more chance to have a drink during the game.

With the addition of the pitch clock to baseball, games this season have been about 30 minutes shorter on average. While fans have enjoyed the faster pace of play, the one area it has hurt is beer sales. To combat this, the Texas Rangers have announced beer will now be sold until the end of the 8th inning, instead of at the end of the 7th inning.

According to Fox 4 News, a number of other MLB teams have decided to do the same. “If it turns out that this is causing an issue or we feel that it might cause an issue, then we’ll revert to what we have done previously," said Milwaukee Brewers President of business operations Rick Schlesinger. With these changes, baseball is officially back.
