When the Texas Rangers first announced they would be building a new stadium with a retractable roof, fans were relieved their days of sweating through a ball game were over. However, it appears the team is attempting to return to the old days this week, turning up the thermostat in the stadium to help the metroplex conserve energy. With ERCOT asking Texans to conserve energy this week, the team decided to do their part and turn the thermostat up to 75 degrees.
On Monday, fans at Globe Life Field in Arlington were a little warmer than usual with the stadium’s temperature set to 75 degrees. Normally, the stadium sits at a very comfortable 72 degrees, but with Texans across the metroplex attempting to conserve energy, the team joined in on ERCOT’s request. It is unknown how long the team plans on keeping the air conditioning set to 75 degrees.

According to NBC DFW, Monday’s game was expected to have 20,000 fans in attendance. With a home series against the Oakland Athletics currently underway, players will have to deal with a little bit more heat. Hopefully this gives the home team a bit of an advantage.
