Back in the days of renting movies from a store, the biggest fear one may have is forgetting to return the movie and getting hit with a late fee. However, one Texas woman is dealing with a bit more than that after finding out she forgot to return a VHS over two decades ago. The woman recently found out she was charged with felony embezzlement after failing to return her copy of ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch.’
Caron McBride recently found out about her felony charge while trying to change her name on her license after getting married. McBride, originally from Oklahoma, received an email from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles saying she had an "issue in Oklahoma" she had to deal with first.
After doing some research, McBride found out she was charged with felony embezzlement back in 2000 for not returning a VHS tape she had rented in 1999, according to Fox News.
“The first thing she told me was felony embezzlement, so, I thought I was gonna have a heart attack. She told me it was over the VHS tape and I had to make her repeat it because I thought, this is insane,” said McBride. While the store closed back in 2008, hopefully McBride’s name will soon be cleared.
