A woman in west Houston was just trying to practice a little pole dancing in her home when disaster struck.
Asha Gilbert was filming herself practicing her routine in her apartment’s living room when the top of her pole dislodged from her ceiling, fell, and struck a fire sprinkler, causing water to shoot everywhere.
According to ABC 13, Gilbert had a friend help install the pole, and they failed to anchor it to the ceiling relying instead on the pole’s natural tension between the ceiling and floor.
Most of her furniture was ruined, and she was forced to relocate to another apartment. The unit below her also suffered water damage as well. "I explained everything, and she was very, very cool and understanding, and I appreciated that," said Gilbert.
Gilbert says that her days of in-home pole dancing are over. "They are done. For now," she said.
