There have been plenty of television series over the years set in Texas, and now it appears yet another one is in the works. It was announced recently that actor Thomas Haden Church will star in a new series based on a popular column in 'Texas Monthly.' The comedy series is being made by Fox Entertainment.

'The Texanist' will follow Church as a popular Austin-based radio host who "calls 'em like he sees 'em, dispensing advice to Texas natives and newcomers alike on what he knows to be the true Texas Way of life." The show is based on a popular 'Texas Monthly' column that Dave Courtney has been writing since 2007. The column features Courtney answering readers' questions about everything Texas.

Not much is known about the upcoming series still, but it will written by 'Cheers' alum Rob Long. "The Texanist is about facing a changing world and trying to hold fast to the important things while letting the other stuff move with the times," said Long. While many are excited to see the show once it airs, most are just hoping the show makes Texas proud.
