Furthering their education in college is a great choice for many students, but for some they are left still paying for school years later. The cost of college is something that has been debated quite a bit in recent years, but while many schools continue to raise tuition, UT Arlington has decided to make a change to make attending college easier for many students. The school recently announced a new program that will pay the full tuition of Texas resident students from lower income families.
Earlier this week, UT Arlington announced their new “Blaze Forward” program that will cover tuition and fees for new students for up to four years and transfer students who have completed their associate’s degree for two years. The program only applies to Texas resident students whose family incomes are below $85,000, according to NBC DFW. “We want to make a UTA education even more attainable and give strong financial assurances to families and students in need,” said interim president Teik C. Lim.

Under the new program, the school expects to cover the tuition of over 4,000 students in the coming year, with that number expected to grow to 4,600 in the future. With this program, even more Texans should now be able to attend college.
