The Texas sky was lit up by something other than stars Tuesday night. Around 6:45 P.M. people from all over the state reported seeing a fireball shooting through the night sky. Luckily, some were able to capture the moment and share it online.
On Tuesday, the American Meteor Society received numerous reports of a fireball spotted in the sky over Texas and Oklahoma. According to WFAA, the majority of reports came from central Texas, though many in North Texas were able to see it as well. Video captured by Ring doorbell cameras show how bright and fast the fireball was.

While the cause is unknown, experts believe it could be connected to The Quadrantids meteor shower that is said to be active until Jan. 16. Whatever it was, many are just happy they got to see the rare occurrence.
