A manager at a Whataburger in Paris, TX was forced to get physical with an unruly customer after he became verbally abusive to the restaurant’s employees.
According to WFAA, the manager asked the customer to leave after his aggression to the staff, and he complied but warned he would return once the police left.
Well when the police left, the customer returned and got into a physical altercation with the manager, punching him several times.
The manager was able to recover and proceeded to subdue him with the ancient method of beating him with a trash can.
The police arrived back at the scene and found 41-year-old Anthony William Newhuis of Spring, Texas bleeding from his head in the restaurant’s parking lot.
He was arrested and is facing charges of assault resulting in bodily injury and public intoxication. Upon his arrival at the hail, Newhuis also flooded his cell, resulting in an additional charged of criminal mischief less than $750.
A Whataburger spokesperson said in a statement, “At Whataburger, Guest and employee security are a top priority. We take incidents such as this seriously and are fully cooperating with authorities.”
