Last week, body cam footage was released of a White Settlement police officer saving an elderly woman from a potential $40,000 bitcoin scam.
The 84-year-old was told by her "bank" to deposit $40,000 into a bitcoin ATM. Thankfully, Sgt. James Stewart was able to step in and prevent the woman from sending all of her savings to the scammer.
The police promised to return all of the woman's money to her, and they did exactly that.
After working with Bitcoin, the White Settlement police department presented the woman a check for $23,900, the amount she deposited into the ATM.
According to FOX 4, Sgt. Stewart presented the elderly woman the check, and then drove her to her bank himself to deposit it.
