The Pirates’ Apex Legends team captured the national championship over the weekend in Orlando, defeating the XPL-WTX Trolls, a select Esports organization, by a final score of 113-111.
Team sponsor Robert Arthur told WFAA, “Words cannot describe how proud I am of our students. APEX was able to win nationals, our Fortnite team finished sixth out of 48 teams and were the highest-placing high school team, and Rocket League were state champions this year and finished as national semifinalists in Wylie High School’s first-ever appearance at nationals.”
