It’s been a long time coming for the city of Mesquite, as they’ve opened their first new fire station in 33 years.
Mesquite Fire Station 8 officially opened on Friday, in what the city calls a "state-of-the-art facility in the fast-growing Kaufman County portion of the city."
Per WFAA, the city says the station will serve residents in the southern section of the city, but it is expected to improve response times across all of Mesquite.
Mayor Daniel Alemán Jr. said in a release, “Mesquite has a strong commitment to public safety. This new Fire Station is proof of that.
“We want existing and new residents to know we are there for them.”
