Who would win in a fight? Lemmy or God? Trick question, Lemmy is God.

Metal fans the world over are preparing to celebrate Motörhead Day this Friday. The 8th of May is the day fans celebrate the music and passing of their Earthbound, guitar-wielding deity Lemmy Kilmister, who died in December 2015 from cancer and heart related issues.

It all comes together perfectly, because the date sounds so similar to the band’s iconic 1980 album Ace Of Spades, and the record’s title track.

2020 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Ace Of Spades and to sharpen the point, the band will release a new lyric video for the track, as well as official merchandise with proceeds going to benefit Live Nation’s Crew Nation Fund, as well as easter eggs, and other brand new content. Fans will also have the option to customize their social media profiles with filters of the band’s iconic “warpig” mascot.

In a press release the band, who were among the 2020 class of nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, encourages you to take some time this Friday to toast and post your tribute.

“Raise a toast to Motörhead! Fill a glass with your favorite libation and post your toast to Motörhead online with the hashtag #8thofmay. Jack and Coke optional! We’d hope you can join us as part of this celebration of all things Motörhead. Lockdown may be going on all around us but the world is ours and we were born to raise hell! We look forward to celebrating 40 years of lawn killing, bastard rock ‘n roll with you all!”
