Sports Reporting: When John Madden died on Dec. 28, 2021, the story was headline news across America. He was an icon. One of a kind. Respected, admired and adored. KCBS Radio's Stan Bunger reports.
Feature Reporting: Neighborhood bars are defined by more than the menu. They're gathering spaces where people find community. When a San Francisco piano bar owner felt comfortable enough to throw the doors open after more than a year of a pandemic-related closure, he took a creative approach to jump-start business. KCBS Radio's Melissa Culross reports.
Overall Excellence: This is a collective staff entry. It's a mix of live coverage, interviews, feature reporting, breaking news, long-form programming and podcast episodes. Clips include work from KCBS Radio's Holly Quan, Kris Ankarlo, Matt Bigler, Kathy Novak, Patti Reising, Jeff Bell, Rebecca Corral and Stan Bunger, among many others.
The RTDNA is announcing Regional winners this week. Winning entries advance to the National Edward R. Murrow Award competition.
