PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Allegheny County is reporting a slight uptick in COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, but hospitalizations and deaths are down.

The Allegheny County Health Department is reporting 125 new cases of coronavirus, six more than on Tuesday. That brings the total in the county since March 14 to 7,718.


The new cases come from 1,310 test results and range in age from 1 to 98 years old with the median age being 52. That a positivity rate slightly above 9 percent.

The median age has slowly risen from the 20s and 30s to the 40s and 50s over the past few weeks, since bars were shut down.

The dates of the test results span from July 8 through July 28.

30 have been hospitalized in the past two days.

Five additional deaths are also being reported. The age of those that have died range in age from 70 to 90 years-old. The dates of the latest deaths span from July 14 through July 24.

A total of 234 people have died in Allegheny County as a result of COVID-19. A majority of the deaths are in those 65 and older.
