PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – The Pittsburgh area is forecasted to have 2-5 inches of snow fall on Sunday, causing the city and surrounding areas to be under a Winter Weather Advisory until 1 a.m. Monday morning.

The City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works is prepping for the snow by beginning shifts at noon Sunday and having the night personnel working a 12-hour shift beginning at 6 p.m.

A release from the City says initial work by DPW will concentrate on pre-treating secondary streets until the snow actually begins to fall. They will switch to plow mode when and if multiple inches of snow fall.

Parks maintenance crews will attend to the sidewalks, parking lots, bridge sidewalks, and steps beginning at 4 a.m. on Monday.

You can follow salting and plowing activity on the city's Snow Plow Tracker site.
