Effects Of Hurricane Laura Could Impact Pittsburgh By Weekend

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Hurricane Laura will hit landfall by midnight on Thursday, most likely as a category four storm.

The Pittsburgh region will likely experience its effects by the weekend.

"It looks like we will eventually get some rain from it; it's going to be drawn in to a frontal system that moves through the area around Friday or Saturday," AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Samuel said Wednesday during the KDKA Radio Morning Show. "So I think we will have some showers and thunderstorms at least. Sometimes we obviously can see some very, very heavy rainfall from these tropical features. I think that heaviest rainfall goes to the south , but its worth watching."

Samuel said that while we could use the rain, we don't want as much as some tropical systems can bring.
