PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - Gray, cloudy and wet, that’s what life has been like in Pittsburgh lately and while it will continue it looks like there could be some literal light at the end of the tunnel.

A Flash Flood Watch continues through 2:00 a.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says repeated periods of heavy rain are in the forecast.

LATEST WEATHER FORECAST

Combined with saturated ground, flash flooding is possible.

AccuWeather meteorologist Dean DeVore tells KDKA Radio there will be sporadic showers that at any time can cause a downpour and flooding Tuesday afternoon.

“There could be some isolated pop up showers and thundershowers that could have a heavy downpour anytime over the next three or four days with all this humidity and the moisture that the rain showers have put down already, kind of trapped at the surface, anything could be drenching,” said DeVore.

While the flood watch will end early Wednesday morning. DeVore says the chance for severe weather returns Thursday, “that looks like a very active day here in the Pittsburgh area.”

As a storm system from the Ohio Valley moves to the Northeast later this week, some 115 million Americans will experience heavy rain or gusty winds, or some combination of both, at various points: https://t.co/elwbKLFpfi pic.twitter.com/52Dea1hMRm

After that he hopes to see things begin to clear up heading into the weekend, just in time for the start of summer.

The first official day of summer is Friday.
